VI - UNDER-PRIVILEGED CHILDREN

We have to be sensitive to the rights of the under-privileged children. We should advocate to their proper development for a sustainable society. Under human rights law, children have a right to the basic standards like health care, education, food, shelter and welfare. Many children in the vulnerable communities suffer from domestic conflict and are exploited and abused in various occupational venues. Poverty is the main factor for child labour and most of their rightful needs and requirements both physical and mental are overlooked by the other household and social priorities. Female children are the most exploited and discriminated and are even denied the opportunity for proper education even if it is available. We have to encourage and support strategies and programmes to enhance their status and participation in comprehensive community development.
